In this full-day workshop, you’ll learn how to craft a stunning sterling silver ring, set with either a beautiful piece of sea glass or a cabochon stone.
About the Workshop:
This is a full-day session with a short break for lunch. You’re welcome to pop into one of the lovely cafes on Wellfield Road, bring a picnic to enjoy in Waterloo Gardens, or relax and stay in the gallery.
If you’d like to set sea glass, you can bring your own, and I’ll check if it’s suitable for use (not all sea glass is created equal!), or you can choose a specially selected piece from the River Taff.
Prefer a cabochon stone? I have a large selection of 10mm round cabochons to choose from.

You’ll be learning alongside a small group of up to 6 like-minded people, making it a fun and creative experience with other Cardiff locals.
What You’ll Learn:
This workshop is ideal for beginners who want to try their hand at traditional silversmithing techniques. You’ll learn how to:
- Use a piercing saw to cut metal
- Work with a jeweller's bench peg
- Solder a ring
- Shape your piece using a jeweller's mandrel
- Create a freeform cabochon setting
- Polish your finished design, ready to wear
What Do You Need to Bring?
Nothing at all—I’ll provide all materials and tools. By the end of the session, you’ll have a unique piece of silver jewellery made entirely by you!
